Monitoring

by ghing

Before the volunteer session starts

  • Check the staggered section of the Special Letters accordian folder and place any request letters that are ready to be filled at the front of the inbox
  • Put the Pages to Prisoners sign outside the space so people can easily find us.  Leaning the sign against one of the poles by the Coke machine works well.
  • Check to make sure that there are enough supplies (tape, markers, form letters, packing paper etc.)  If it looks like you will run out of something soon, make a note in the monitor log AND e-mail the planning list so that more supplies can be purchased.
  • Read monitor log entries that you have made since the last time you were a monitor.  Initial each entry to show that you've read and understood it.
  • Check the trash can.  If it is pretty full, take the bag out and put it in the dumpster at the end of the parking lot.  Put a new bag in the trash can.  Bags live on the shelves with the supplies, inbox, and folders.
